My research interests are rooted in an interdisciplinary perspective emphasising the connections between the history and theory of politics. My work straddles the boundaries between intellectual history and the history of political and legal thought, culture, and institutions in modern Europe.

I am currently working on my first book, Rethinking Democracy in Postwar Germany (with Harvard University Press).

The book examines how German intellectuals, policy-makers, and state-builders have theorised the challenges of liberal democracy after 1945 and how their ideas shaped the political culture and institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany.
